ED Treatment Options (including Levitra)

Start

Even though some men feel that having an erection problem is an embarrassing condition, it is always best to discuss erectile dysfunction and possible treatments with a qualified physician. A wide range of erectile dysfunction treatment options are now available, including:

  1. Counseling or psychological therapy. Since erectile dysfunction is sometimes caused by non-physical factors, some men benefit from this form of non-medical intervention. Individual therapy, or counseling involving both the man and his partner, can often be an effective treatment for a man’s erection problem.
  2. Hormone treatments. Some men have responded well to hormone treatments, which help increase the blood flow required to achieve and maintain an erection. A range of hormone treatment methods are available to treat erectile dysfunction including injections, suppositories and, in rare cases, hormone replacement therapy.
  3. Mechanical vacuum devices are used by some men to help create an erection by drawing blood into the penis. Once a proper erection is achieved, a rubber tension ring is applied, which usually enables the man to maintain his erection long enough to finish having sex.
  4. Surgery. In rare cases, a man’s erection problem may be addressed through surgery. Penile implants and vascular surgery are two such options. Either should be considered only after careful consultation with a qualified physician and surgeon, taking into account the likelihood of success for the procedure and possible side effects.
